from N to N |等於from one N to another，超實用小句型!

今天來學一個實用的小句型 from N to N 。在生活中，我們常會遇到表示「從某地到另一地」的情境。譬如，「業務員挨家挨戶地銷售產品」，或「蜜蜂帶著花粉在花叢間穿梭」。這二句要怎麼翻譯呢？

很簡單，如果有「從某地到另一地」或「在…之間往來」的意思，可以用 from N to N 的句型，等於from one N to another。注意二點，在from N to N的句型中，(1)N必須是同一個名詞，(2)N不加冠詞或複數形。

句型1：from N to N

  1. 這句型的意思是「從某地到另一地」或「在…之間往來」。
  2. N必須是同一個字，使用單數形，而且不加冠詞。

For her children’s education, the mother moved from place to place.

(為了孩子的教育，這母親從一個地方搬到另一個地方。)

→ from place to place 從一個地方到另一個地方

→ 等於from one place to another

 

To explore the world, the adventurous young man traveled from country to country.

(為了探索世界，這位富有冒險精神的年輕人走遍了各個國家。)

→ travel from country country是周遊各國，country不加冠詞也不用複數形

→ 等於from one country to another

 

On Halloween, the children went from door to door to visit their neighbors and ask for candy.

(萬聖節那天，孩子們挨家挨戶地拜訪鄰居，討要糖果。)

→ go from door to door是到各家各戶，door不加冠詞也不用複數形

 

The salesman went from door to door in order to sell his products.

(業務員挨家挨戶地銷售產品。)

 

When people sneeze, virus may transfer from human to human.

(當人們打噴嚏時，病毒可能會在人與人之間傳播。)

→ transfer from human to human是在人與人之間傳播，human不加冠詞也不用複數形

 

 

句型2：from one N to another

  1. 這句型的意思也是「從某地到另一地」或「在…之間往來」。
  2. 因為是表達三者以上的「之間」，所以句型固定是one … another。

The student went from one library to another, to look for the books he needed.

(這學生在圖書館間尋找他需要的書。)

→ from one library to another 在圖書館間

→ 等於from library to library

 

The waiter walked from one table to another to take the guests’ orders.

(服務生在各桌間移動，接受客人的訂單。)

→ from one table to another 在各桌間

→ 等於from table to table

 

In the forest, several monkeys are swinging from one branch to another.

= In the forest, several monkeys are swinging from branch to branch.

(在森林裡，幾隻猴子從一根樹枝盪到另一根。)

 

There is no denying that customs vary from culture to culture.

= There is no denying that customs vary from one culture to another.

(不可否認，習俗因文化而異。)

 

The bees are carrying pollen, flying from flower to flower.

= The bees are carrying, flying from one flower to another.

(蜜蜂帶著花粉在花叢間穿梭。)
