顧名思義，進行式的基本概念是「動作正在進行、事情正發生」，分為 現在進行式、過去進行式、未來進行式。

進行式的基本結構是be ＋V-ing (現在分詞)，依照時間改變be動詞時態：現在進行式→ am/are/is + V-ing，過去進行式→ was/were + V-ing，未來進行式→ will + be V-ing，都是很常用的基本句型，將會分開一一介紹。

現在進行式表示現在正在進行的動作或正在發生的事情。一起來充電吧！

現在進行式 結構： be V-ing

1. 進行式的基本結構是「be + V-ing」，V-ing即是現在分詞型態，這類要特殊的動詞變化規則，請見下篇現在分詞的動詞變化說明。
2. 注意，這句型中需要搭配be動詞，be動詞必須和主詞與單、複數相符，現在進行式的結構是「am/are/is + V-ing」。

The girls are excitedly playing VR games now.
(女孩們興奮地在玩虛擬遊戲。)

The hungry twin babies are crying, and their mother is pouring milk powder into the bottles.
(很餓的雙胞胎嬰兒正在哭，他們的媽媽正在泡奶粉。)

💡 從文意得知二句都是正在發生的事情。小孩們正在哭are crying，媽媽正在倒奶粉is pouring….

現在進行式 的用法

現在進行式主要表示「現在正在進行的動作」、「現在正在變化」或「短時間內即將發生」的動作，使用am/are/is+V-ing(be + 現在分詞)的動詞型態。

I. 現在正在進行的動作

此用法中，常與代表現在的時間副詞now, right now, at this time, at this moment, “Look!” “Listen!”等字一起用。

Lydia can’t answer the phone now. She is explaining how to use this lotion to the customer .
(Lydia現在無法接電話。她正在對顧客解釋如何使用這款化妝水。)

A street fight happened 10 minutes ago. Now the police are questioning these young men about the fight.
(十分鐘前街上發生鬥毆 。警察正在詢問這幫年輕人關於鬥毆的事情。)

Look! A puppy is running toward us.
(瞧！有隻小狗朝著我們跑來。)

💡 由”Look!”得知是期使對方「看」現在發生的事情，得知是正在進行的動作，用現在進行式is running

II. 正在變化的狀況或發展中的事情

Autumn has come. No wonder the leaves are turning red.
(秋天來了。難怪葉子都轉紅了。)

💡 由文意得知是正在變化的狀況，用現在進行式are turning

The workers are building a new stadium in the city center.
(工人們正在市中心蓋一座新體育館。)

💡 由文意得知是正在發展中的事情，用現在進行式are building

III. 短時間內即將發生的動作

現在進行式可用於表達「未來」短時間內會發生的動作或事情。

The plane is landing in 10 minutes.
(飛機10分鐘即將落地。)

💡 表示10分鐘將會進行的動作，代替未來式，用現在進行式is landing

Mia is arriving in twenty minutes. We will go pick her up.
(Mia在20分鐘會到達。我們會去接她。）

💡 表示20分鐘將會進行的動作，代替未來式，用現在進行式is arriving

IV. 不可用進行式的動詞

1. 有些動詞沒有進行式的意思，只能單純用現在式。
2. 如喜好hate, dislike, like, love, 理解、認識know, understand, 擁有own, possess, belong, 需要need, require, 記憶remember, forget,等。

  ( X ) Kimberly is a smart girl. She is knowing much knowledge about science and medicine.

• ( O ) The suitcase belongs to the colleague sitting behind me.
